Abstract
River aami is the major river covering a long stretch of the part
underlying eastern part of Uttar Pradesh. The river not only sustains
the aquatic floral and faunal biodiversity but also it is supporting
system of the people inhabiting especially Khalilabad, Sant Kabir
nagar, district uttar pradesh. This is a main river of city Gorakhpur
supporting the life of people who are actively engaged in agricultural
practices and fish culture at commercial level and aloso to small scale
business of fish culture. The river receives industrial effluents at
several locations. Some of them are Rayana Paper Board industries
limited, Khalilabad and GIDA in Sahjanva which is chain of several
industries namely textile, steel plants, india glycol limited (IGL) etc.
The group of industries in GIDA provide a great increment in
industrial development, Indian GDP growth and economic increase. But, in past few years it
has been realized that this river is irreversibly polluted to a very great extent. The aim of the
present study was to evaluate and observe the qualitative aspect of water under the light of its
altered physical and chemical parameters as well as variations in hematological profile of fish
Cyprinus carpio inhabiting the river water.
Keywords: Toxic, xenobiotics, hematological, physico-chemical, alterations.
