BRONCHO DILATOR ACTIVITY OF CUṆṬIYĀTI CŪRAṆAM FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF BRONCHIAL ASTHMA

Abstract
Asthma is a Greek word which means “Breathless” (or) to breathe with open mouth. Bronchial Asthma is an important allergic disorder. Prevalence of asthma is between 100 and 500 million people around the globe and India has an estimated 15 – 20 million asthmatics. In Siddha aspect there is a preparation called cuṇṭiyāticūraṇamwhich is especially indicated for Cuvācakācam (Bronchial Asthma) in literature of AnubavaVaithiya Deva Ragasiyam Part IV. This study was evaluated the siddha poly herbal drug CC for Broncho dilator activity. This study was conducted in Swiss albino rats, divided into four groups each group contains six animals (one normal control, second milk intoxicated, three and four are drug treatment groups). Animal belongs to group I received normal saline 0.1ml. Group II
RAT received boiled and cooled milk (4 mL/kg, s.c.) from day 1 to 5. Animal belongs to group III received milk (4 mL/kg, s.c.) and treated with 200mg/kg dose of cc (p.o.) 1 hr. before milk injection for five days. Animal belongs to group IV received milk (4 mL/kg, s.c.) and treated with 400mg/kg dose of cc (p.o.) before milk injection for five days.Hencethe test drug has mostsignificant effect on broncho dilator activity.
