A REVIEW OF COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS DISEASE-2019) DIAGNOSIS APPROACH

Abstract Corona virus are the wide class of virus that causes diseases in human and animal. WHO originally called this infectious disease Novel Coronavirus-Infected Pneumonia (NCIP) and the virus had been named 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV). The virus was identified as the cause of an outbreak of pneumonia of unknown cause in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, in December 2019. Covid-19 virus is Enveloped, spherical, 60 to 140 nm in diameter with 9 to 12 nm spikes. The Covid-19 virus can be transmitted by Close contact with the an infected person or Contact with an object or surface carrying coronaviruses and then touching your nose, eyes or mouth can also spread coronaviruses in rare cases. The symptoms of covid-19 virus are high grade fever, cough, shortness of breath, chest pain etc. Diagnosis of covid-19 infection can be done via RT PCR test and rapid antigen test of sample taken from oral or nasal swab. The RTPCR test is the gold standard for Covid-19 virus because rapid antigen test may give false negative report. Although Rapid antigen test is quicker than RTPCR. RTPCR test may take 24-72 for result but it is the most accurate test for the diagnosis of covid-19 infection.
