So, to find out an Ayurvedic treatment of the disease the research topic “A comparative clinical study to evaluate the efficacy of Vidangadi Churna and Brihatapanchmoola Kwatha in the management of Sthaulya W.S.R Obesity” had been chosen. For the clinical trial 60 clinically diagnosed patients of Sthaulya were selected from O.P.D/ I.P.D. of Dept. of Kayachikitsa of Rishikul Campus, Haridwar and were randomly divided into 3 Groups. In Group I only oral administration of Vidangadi Churna 5gm twice a day with luke warm water as Anupanadravya was given. In Group II Brihatapanchmoola Kwatha 40 ml twice a day Madhu Samyuktama was given and in Group III combined effect of Vidangadi Churna and Brihatapanchmoola Kwatha was administered. The result of all the triplet groups were statistically significant with their Lekhana, Srotoshodhana and Apatarpana Karma rectified vitiated Medo Dhatwagni and its metabolism thus, breaking the pathogenesis of Sthaulya. The overall effect of Group III was best followed by Group I & Group II. Thus, Ayurvedic treatment proved quite effective in managing the patients of Sthaulya by breaking the pathogenesis due to correction of Medo Dhatwagni, Lekhan, Karshan, Sroto shodhan and Apatarpan properties of trial drugs. However, study should be repeated by taking larger sample with longer duration to see effectiveness of drugs in managing the disease.
