Abstract Objective: This aim of this study was to compare the antistaphylococcal activities of strawberry and apple fruit juices against S. aureus, both pure and clinical isolate bacterial strains. Methods: The anti-staphylococcal activity of the juices was compared based on the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) values. The values of the MIC were determined using the microdilution method, meanwhile the MBC value was obtained after the MIC incubated results were inoculated onto the surface of agar media and determined by observing the survivor colonies at the lowest inhibitory concentration. Results: Phytochemical screening results showed that strawberry and grapes fruit juices locally from Indonesia contained flavonoids, polyphenolics and tannins which have been known as an antibacterial agent. The MIC and MBC value of strawberry against pure and clinical isolates was 3.125-6.25 %w/v and 12.5-25 %w/v, respectively. However, the grapes fruit juices resulted higher values against both strains, 25-50 %w/v and 12.5-25 %w/v, respectively. Conclusion: The fruit juices of strawberry is a promising edible antibacterial agent to be an anti-staphylococcal candidate.
