VALIDATION OF EFFICACY OF NIMBAPATRA GEL & L-P VATI ON HEALING OF EPISIOTOMY WOUND

Abstract

Title: Validation of efficacy of Nimbapatra gel and l-p vati on healing of episiotomy wound AIM To study the Validation of efficacy of nimbapatra gel and l-p vati on healing of episiotomy wound” and to assess safety of Nimbapatra gel during treatment. BACKGROUND Episiotomy care is a major aspect of puerperal care. Majority of woman suffer from decreased general resistance, due to devitalized tissue & blood loss, thus they are prone for many infections. Nimba has antimicrobial activity in leaf extract is used against human pathogenic bacteria. Pippalimoola is shoolaghna (painkiller) & kaphavatashamaka (reduce kapha & vata dosha) so it is helpful in reducing agnimandya & shola (pain) in sutika. Latakaranja is the herb which suppresses spasms and reduces muscular tension. It also reduces abdominal pain and cramps. It is also loaded with anti-inflammatory properties which help to provide relief from body pain. Methodology: Place of study- Bharti Ayurved Hospital. Type of study- Single Randomized clinical study Sample size- In this study total 60 patients were evaluated. In which, 30 patients were given Nimpabatra gel for local application and Latakaranj-Pippalimool vati orally and 30 patients were treated with Tab. Ampiclox(Cloxacillin+Ampicillin), Tab. Xeroflam (Diclofenac+Paracetamol) and prvidonebetadine ointment for applying on episiotomy wound. Results: According to the Statistical analysis done there were significant actions seen on vaginal lacerations and Episiotomy. Treatment showed no any adverse effects in this clinical trial. Conclusion: In present study it has been proved that Nimbapatra gel and L-P VATI had good effect on Episiotomy wound and vaginal lacerations.No any adverse effects were found during or after the treatment.Nimbapatra gel and L-P VATI is safe & effective formulation for episiotomy wound.
