CURRENT EVIDENCE ON CORONAVIRUS TRANSMISSION IN NEWBORN: A REVIEW

. Abstract Coronavirus infection is a major public health problem since 2019 that is of utmost importance for its devastating effect on human life. Its impact on neonatal period cannot be ignored as well. There is an increasing interest to find out the possibility of maternal transfer of the virus to the developing fetus from its emergence. Debate also exists to establish transfer of virus after birth from the community. Most of the published articles found that vertical transmission of corona virus is less common and neonates remain healthy during the post natal period. On the contrary, few reports are also available suggesting that babies can acquire the virus from infected person at home from close contact.
