A REVIEW ON MUKHPAKA IN AYURVEDA W.S.R. APHTHOUS STOMATITIS

. Abstract The mouth is an extremely vital and sensitive part of our body because we receive all kinds of things through the mouth, so poor oral hygiene condition causes many oral and systemic diseases. Mukhpaka is the most common disease of the oral cavity found in India as well as all over the world. Mukhpaka has dominant Dosha kapha-Pitta. In the condition of Mukhpaka, Mukha is affected by Paka orocess which is associated with Pitta Dosha. Mukhpaka can be correlated with aphthous ulcer which is characterised by pain, burning sensation, itching and inflammatory process of the oral mucosa. It occurs by taking hot – spicy food, chewing tobacco, GIT problem, iron and Vit. Deficiency. In the modern system of medicine, various vitamins, systemic antibiotics, tetracyclines mouth wash, anti- inflammatory drugs, local application of triamcinolone acetoride, steroids etc. are used but this treatment is hazards for systemic organ tissues. Therefore, it is important to Various therapy techniques in Ayurveda like Kavala, Gandusha Dharana, Pratisarana and Kapha- Pita shamaka drugs have been explained in Ayurvedic classics for the treatment of Mukhpaka.
