Anita A. Patil and Tanvi S. Joshi*
. Abstract Panchakarma is a precious gift offered by Ayurveda. It is the purification therapy useful for detoxification of body and elimination of vitiated doshas. It is used to treat various diseases and maintain the state of physical and mental health. Panchakarma includes Vamana, Virechana, Basti, Nasya and Raktamokshana used in treatment according to vyadhi. To eliminate the vitiated doshas, it is necessary to bring them in koshtha from periphery of the body. For easy evacuation of doshas snehana (oleation) and swedana (sudation) are applied. Out of them, abhyantar snehana (internal administration of Sneha) is an integral procedure as poorvakarma. Sadya snehan is a concept described in samhitas beneficial for snehana. Sadya snehana (instant oleation) is a type of pravicharna sneha beneficial to reduce the duration of snehapana and attain the same effects of snehapana (samyak snigdha lakshana). It can be efficiently applied in clinical practice due to its effectiveness and minimum period of administration. The study will be useful in understanding the details about sadya snehan. Keywords: Panchakarma, Abhyantar Sneha, Sadya Snehan. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
