Anisha Sharma*, Manju Jakhar and Shruti Thakur

Acid secretion, and therefore the pH of the contents of the oesophagus, stomach, and duodenum, as well as the pH of the gastric wall, is well recognised to play a major role in the development of ulcer disease. Understanding the processes of acid secretion and acid resistance has taken a lot of study in order to be able to cure ulcer disease. Acid secretion, bacteria and their products, non steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, alcohol, reactive oxygen species, and different chemical substances are only a few of the variables that might modify the epithelial barrier and stimulate the creation of mucosal damage.
