ETHNO-MEDICINAL PLANTS USED FOR INSECT BITE- A REVIEW ARTICLE

. Abstract Ayurveda has described various types of Sthavara Visha, Jangama Visha and kritima Visha in various samhitas like Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, Astanga Hridya and many more samhitas of Ayurveda. Jangama Visha includes all kinds of animate poisoning such as snake bite, spider bite, scorpion sting, various types of insect bites. In these samhitas sign and symptoms and management of their poisoning due to the bites of snakes, insects, spiders, rodents etc. has described very thoroughly. Apart from these different types of medicinal plants are used for these types of bites in these Ayurvedic samhitas. Since ancient times, various types of medicinal plants have been commonly used to cure these types of insect bites throughout the India. In this modern era many local people still use various types of medicinal plants for these types of insect bites.
