Abstract

“ROLE OF PANCHAKARMA THERAPY (PRATIMARSHA NASYA, MATRABASTI) IN POST COVID PATIENTS TO RESTORE THE HEALTH”

Abstract

Novel Coronavirus infections are declining but the post covid-19 complications have become a major cause of worry for healthcare worker across the globe. Covid -19 can result in prolonged illness and persistent symptoms, even in young adults along with persons of no underlying medical conditions who were not hospitalized. Post covid symptoms can be divided into two categories as common symptoms and less common symptoms. Common symptoms include fatigue, dyspnoea, joint pain, chest pain, cough change in sense of smell or taste and less common symptoms include insomnia, low-grade fever, headaches, neurocognitive difficulties, myalgia and weakness, gastrointestinal symptoms, rash and depression. According to Ayurveda, there is Dhatukshaya and Agnimandya (Vitiation of digestive fire) in post covid patients. According to ministry of Ayush, physicians have to decide useful classical medicines and Panchakarma therapy based upon there clinical judgement, suitability, availability and regional preference. Hence along with Deepan-Pachan, Dhatuposhan and Rasayan treatment Panchakarma therapies like Pratimarsha nasya and Matra basti will give better and fast results to restore the overall health. A holistic approach is required to follow up care and wellbeing of all post covid recovering patients. Snehan property of both procedures will help for Bruhan, Poshan of body tissues (nourishment) in post covid Dhatukshya condition. Both the therapies are cost effective and easy to do in routine life once trained.
