AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF BPH – SHARING CLINICAL EXPERIENCE

. Abstract Benign Prostate Hypertrophy (BPH) is enlargement of prostate gland.Prostate gland is located just below the bladder and in front of rectum. It is walnut size gland. Prostate secrets fluid that nourish and protect the sperm. Urethra runs through center of prostate. In BPH due to enlargement of Prostate gland the pathway of urethra become narrow. Due to enlarged prostate urinary symptoms are seen like pain during urination, increased frequency of urination, difficulty in starting urination, incomplete bladder emptying and urinary tract infection.In Ayurveda it can be co-related to Vatasthila which is type of Mutraghat. Mutra means urine and Ghata means obstruction. So Mutraghat is obstruction of urine. It is disease of Mutravahasrotas. Aggravated vats get localized inside the passage of feces and urinary bladder produce tumor like cobblersstone, which is immovable and bulged up causing obstruction to feces, urine and flatus, flatulence the urinary bladder are Lakshan of Vatasthila.
