RECENT UPDATES IN THE TREATMENT OF OVERACTIVE BLADDER SYNDROME

. Abstract Overactive bladder is symptom- based condition defined as a syndrome of urinary urgency, with or without urgency incontinence, usually with urinary frequency (voiding eight or more times in a 24- hour period) and nocturia (awakening two or more times at night to void) in the absence of infection or other obvious pathologic features. Overactive bladder syndrome is now classified as a symptom syndrome suggestive of lower urinary tract dysfunction by the International Continence Society (ICS). OAB is commonly called as ―detrusor overactivity/ unstable bladder/detrusor hyperreflexia‖. OAB has an impact on everyday activities and social functions like employment, travel, physical activity, sleep, and sexual function.
