Abstract

PROSPECTIVE CLINICAL IMPORTANCE OF VITAPA MARMA

Abstract

Marma is a unique concept of ayurveda. Marma is the site of prana. Prana is constituted by Agni, Soma, Vayu, Satwa, Rajah, Tamah, Bhuthatma and Panchendriyas. The Vitapa Marma which is situated in In between Vankshana & Vrishana. which is measured about one Angula. The Predominant structure is Snayu Marma by Sushruta, while Vagbhatta mention that Sira Mamsa. The possible location is inguinal canal & the contents are comes under the possible structure. The Inguinal canal is a musculo-aponeurotic tunnel, situated in the lower part of anterior abdominal wall which is 4 cm long, extends from deep inguinal ring to superficial inguinal ring. It contents spermatic cord in male, round ligaments of uterus in female & Ilio-inguinal nerve. Spermatic cord injury may complicate into testicular rupture and necrosis. Cryptorchidism or undescended testis two types - unilateral & bilateral. Infertility occurs in both unilateral and bilateral cryptorchidism. The infertility rate is more in bilateral cryptorchidism than unilateral. The correction of cryptorchidism is a must needed for avoidance of infertility.
