HERBAL SUPPLEMENTS FOR NOOTROPIC ACTIVITY

. Abstract Nowadays, due to changes in personal hygiene, environmental, dietary supplement, hectic lifestyle, obesity, number of problems occurs.The reason behind this is daily body demands of nutrition not supplied in required quantity. In 21st century due to this reason cognitive dysfunction is a major health problems are occurring, which is totally related to brain including neurogenerative or neurophyschiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, depression, dementia, Alzheimer disease, seizers, and cerebrovascular disorders. Scientific reason behind this is deficiency of neurochemicals and neurotransmitters that attributed effects on attention, alertness oxidation or oxidative damage to neuron, stress, depression, insufficient blood flow in brain that’s affects cognitive performance. To overcome this problem it is essential to meet the daily body demands. Cognitive enhancers are the supplements that improve the memory performance and cognitive abilities. Nootropic are sometimes referred as “smart drugs” used for treatment of cognitive deficient. In process of memory formation various neurotransmitters are secretes that bind to receptors and memory cascade. Cognitive enhancement involves various mechanisms it includes by dilating blood vessels throughout the brain, providing energy, releasing adequate quantity neurotransmitter by stimulating glands etc. Herbs or natural crude that improve cognitive performance include ashawagandha, Guduchi, Bacopa monnieri that shows protective effect. This paper represents to establish knowledge on therapeutic and pharmacological action with their clinical evidence along with major phytochemicals and their mechanism. In general this drugs show appreciable effects like Andrographis Paniculata, Artemista Asiatica, Butea Frondosa, Celastrus Paniculata Convolvulus, Corydalis Ternate, Emblica Officinalis, Foeniculum Vulgare and so on but are not used to a wide span as they exhibits various implosive properties.
