COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF MOTHER AND DAUGHTER PLANTS OF MESUA FERREA AND PAEDARIA FOETIDA

Abstract

A number of vegetative propagation methods were applied for the two medicinal plants Mesua ferrea and Paedaria foetida. For Mesua ferrea apart from normal method of propagation by seeds, air layering was also found positive where as for Paedaria foetida root cutting was best. A comparative analysis of parent and child plants raised was done regarding their phytochemical and antioxidant properties. Amongst phytochemical properties both consisted of similar potential but regarding antioxidant potential daughter plants showed more number of antioxidant bands in case of Mesua ferrea.
