. Abstract Hemiplegia can be defined as the paralysis of one side of the body. It is characterized by the loss of function, loss of sensation, lack of control and marked weakness in the affected side of the body. Pakshaghata is symptomatically equivalent to Hemiplegia/Hemiparesis mentioned in contemporary science. Pakshaghata has been enlisted amongst the eighty types of Vataj Nanatmaj vyadhis.
