Abstract

A COMPARATIVE CLINICAL STUDY OF VAMANA-KARMA FOLLOWED BY SHAMANA SNEHA (SARSHAPA TAILA) AND SHAMANA SNEHA (SARSHAPA TAILA) IN THE MANAGEMENT OF STHOOLA PRAMEHI W.S.R. TO DIABETES MELLITUS TYPE-II.

Abstract

In present era Diabetes Mellitus Type-2 is burning and challenging problem for medical science due to sedentary lifestyle, lack of exercise, faulty food habits etc. Inspite of tremendous advancement of allopathy medicines viz. Oral-hypoglycemic agents and insulin, outcomes are not satisfactory because of the hazardous effects and cannot prevent it’s complications like neuropathy, nephropathy, retinopathy, myocardial problem and cerebrovascular accidents. Because of people are heading towards Ayurveda for batter treatments having control blood sugar and prevent it’s complication. In Ayurveda signs and symptoms of Diabetes Mellitus Type-2 can be co related with Sthoola Pramehi. Acharya Charaka has directly mentioned Sodhana Karma in Chikitsa of Sthoola Pramehi. Sthoola Pramehi is Kapha dominant Tridoshaja Vyadhi and Meda, Mansa, Kleda Pradhana. Medadhatu is Ashaya of Shleshma Dosha. So here Vamana-Karma followed by Shamana Sneha (Sashapa Taila) and Shamana Sneha (Sashapa Taila) in the management of Sthoola Pramehi w.s.r. to Diabetes Mellitus Type-2. Aim: To compare the efficacy of Vamana followed by Shamana Sneha and Shamana Sneha in the management of Sthoola Pramehi w.s.r. to Diabetes Mellitus Type-2. Material and methods: Total 30 patients of age group 20-60 years were registered in Group A (Vaman followed by Shamana Sneha) and Group B (Shamana Sneha) Assessment was done based Observation of clinical improvement in subjective parameters viz. Prabhutamutrata, Pipasa, Kshudhadhikya, Pindikodweshtana, Daubalya etc. and objective parameters viz. F.B.S., P.P.B.S., HbA1c, Lipid Profile, and B.M.I. were assessed by gradation method and investgations. Comparison of indivisual group with Paired ‘t’ Test and both group was analysed by using Un-Paired‘t’ Test. Result: In Group-A, 13.33% of patients had Complete remission, Marked improvement was found in 53.33% and 33.33% of the patients had Moderate improvement. None of the patient was in Mild improved and Unchanged. In Group-B, None of patients had complete remission and marked improvement. Moderate improvement was found in only 66.67%, mild improvement was found in 20% where 13.33% of the patients were noted Unchanged. Conclusion :Study reveals that the effect in Vamana followed by Shamana Sneha group was much better than the Shamana Sneha group, which indicates advantageous positive effect of Vamana Karma.
