ANALYTICAL STUDY OF NIMBADI TAILA - AN AYURVEDIC FORMULATION

. Abstract Acharya Sushrut, explain Shashthi Upakrama for the management of various types of Vrana in Sushrut Samhita. In Ayurved various medicated oils are used for the treatment of Vrana. Numerous herbal drugs are also mentioned by Acharya for management of Vrana and indicate that physician can use them in various form. Hence various herbal drugs having different beneficial properties essential for Vrana Ropana and Vrana Shodhana are selected and make use of them into a very standard form of Ayurvedic medication which is Taila Kalpana. The contents of Taila are Neem, Surasa (Tulsi), Haridra, Mamsrohani, Chakramard, Karanja, Manjishtha, Haritaki, Vibhitaki, Amalaki, Vat, Peepal, Udumbar, Plaksha. It contains pharmacological action like Jantughna, Vran-Nashak, Vranashodhana, Putihara, Dahprashmana, Kandughna, Shothahara (anti-inflammatory), Vedanahara (analgesic) and Tridosha Shamak properties. Nimbadi Taila was prepared according to The Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India with standard operative procedure which is described in it for the preparation of oil. The present study was undertaken to standardize the formulation of Nimbadi Taila which is prepared by classical method of Tailapaka.
