A PHARMACEUTICO AND ANALYTICAL STUDY OF PUNARNAVADI CHOORAN & PUNARNAVADI GHAN VATI

. Abstract Many changes have been seen in the field of Ayurveda from last few years. The Ayurvedic medicine has achieved popularity both in developed and developing countries due to their less side effects, organic material, high efficacy and potency, ease of administration etc. The one branch of Ayurveda is “Bhaishajya – Kalpana” which deals with various plant based formulations. In “Bhaishajya – Kalpana” there is “Panchvidha Kashaya Kalpana” which is consider as the basic Kalpana from which another secondary Kalpana are prepared. Out of these Kalpana, Chooran Kalpana is an important Kalpana, which is widely used by Ayurvedic Practitioners but there are some disadvantages of Chooran Kalpna like – Palatability factor, short shelf life, Therapeutic efficacy etc. On other side, now a days “Ghan Kalpana” is also widely used by Ayurvedic Physicians due to its various advantages like – Easy to administrate, more Palatable, more efficacy and Potency, long shelf life etc. Keeping all these things in mind, an effort has been made to convert “Punarnavadi Chooran” into “Punarnavadi Ghan Vati”. The aim was to prepare “Punarnavadi Chooran” & “Punarnavadi Ghan Vati” and to evaluate them through Pharmaceutical and Analytical measures.
