Abstract

Excogitation in the concept of tissue engineering has brought about a drastic improvement in the healing response of tissues. Platelet concentrate in tissue regeneration has revolutionized the clinical dentistry in recent years. The concept was developed with the aim of utilising human blood proteins as a source of growth factor capable of supporting angiogenesis and tissue ingrowth based on the notion that blood supply is a pre requisite for tissue regeneration. The in vivo and in vitro research on platelet concentrate has opened a new boulevard in dentistry and medicinal care. This review summarizes the regenerative potential and clinical application of platelet concentrate in various fields.
