Dr. Shaifali Sharma*, Dr. Harvendra Devpal, Dr. Dinesh Kumar Sharma, Dr. Purushottam Das Sharma and Dr. Deepa
. Abstract One of the most essential components of Ayurveda is the science of Marma. Marma is a critical and delicate place or location on the body that can be found all over. Marma is derived from the "Mri" dhatu, which denotes death or deformity as a result of an accident. Vital points are defined in Ayurveda under the term Marma, which is one of the most commonly described and contested issues in the brahutrayees. The total number of Marma is 107, according to the Acharyas. Marma has been categorised by Acharya Sushrut based on its location as well as the involvement of Marma vastu. The confluence of five key structures, namely Mamsa (muscle), Sira (vessels), Snayu (ligaments, tendon, and other fibrous structure), Asthi (bones), and Sandhi (sandhi) forms these places (joints). Greeva is the region that joins the head and thorax region and measures around 4 Angula in length and 20 Angula in circumference. There are 37 Marma out of 107 Marmas which are known as Urdhvjatrugat (superior to clavicle). Under the categories of Jatru urdhwa and Sira Marma, Neela, Manya, and Matruka Marma are found. Because they are located in Greeva that's why Neela, Manya, and Matruka Marmas are referred to as Greevashrita Sira Marma. Although the large regional and Viddha lakshanas are described in Samhitas, but ancient literature lack detailed descriptions of the structures found in the Neela, Manya, and Matruka Marmas regions. The superior laryngeal nerve, external laryngeal nerve, recurrent laryngeal nerve, hypoglossal nerve, glossopharyngeal nerve, branches of the external carotid artery, and tributaries of the internal jugular veins are all considered in the Neela and Manya Marmas region. The common and internal carotid arteries, anterior jugular veins, external jugular veins, and internal jugular veins are all regarded in the Matruka Marma region. Keywords: Marma, Matruka Sira, Neela, Manya, Carotid artery, Laryngeal nerve, Hypoglossal Nerve, Glossopharyngeal Nerve, Jugular Vein. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
