A REVIEW ARTICLE ON VARICOSE VEINS AND ITS AYURVEDIC PERSPECTIVE IN COMPARISON WITH SIRAKAUTILYA, SIRAJ GRANTHI AND SIRAGATA VATA

. Abstract Varicose veins are permanently elongated, dilated vein/ veins with tortuous path causing pathological circulation. There is reversal of blood flow through these faulty valves. The veins rarely need treatment for health issues, but if symptoms like swelling, aching, and painful lesion occurs, and if there is considerable discomfort and patient is unable to do daily routine treatment is available. In severe cases, a varicose vein may rupture, or develop into varicose ulcers on the skin. These will require immediate treatment.[1] Ayurvedic literature shows evidences of Sirakautilya, Siraj Granthi and Siragata Vata which are similar to that of Varicose veins.
