REVIEW ARTICLE ON LANGHAN UPAKRAM

. Abstract Ayurveda as a science of life, not only treating the diseases but also it emphasises on disease-free living by prevention of manifestation of diseases. To cure the diseases and promote the health, Acharyas elaborately explained Shadvidhopakramas. The word “Upakram” has multiple meanings like planning, preparation, beginning etc. Shadvidhopkrama includes Langhan, Brimhana, Sthambhana, Rukshana, Snehana and Swedana. These can be classified under two headings as Santarpana and Aptarpana. Whenever Amadosha increases in the body it disturbs the Doshas, block the body channels, and leads to heaviness. Langhan therapy act as purification in the body. It is one of the broadly practiced Upakrama among Ayurvedic physicians. The details of Langhan will be dealt in this article.
