A REVIEW ON “ASHOKA (SARACA ASHOKA) WHITAL INDIGENOUS PLANT WITH NUMERRIOUS TRADITIONAL SIGNIFICANCEâ€

. Abstract Ayurveda is a traditional medicine system in which herbal remedies were used methodically. Ashoka is the oldest tree in India, commonly known as "Ashok Briksh", botanist known as a Saraca asoca (Roxb.), De.wild or Saraca indica belonging to Caesalpinaceae subfamily of the Legume is one of the indigenous plants with lots of traditional significance. Saraca asoca is a relatively traded IUCN crimson listed plant species Used in ayurvedic medicine treatments for numerous treatments disorders, especially gynecological problems such as menorrhagia, leucorrhoea, bleeding hemorrhoids, dysfunctional uterine bleeding etc. . It is used as spasmogenic, oxytocic, uterotonic, anti-bacterial, anti-implantation, anti-tumour, anti-progestational, antiestrogenic activity against menorrhagia and anti cancer.
