EFFECT OF JALAUKAVACHARANA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF 2ND DEGREE INTERNAL HAEMORRHOID: A CASE STUDY

. Abstract Aacharya Sushrut, father of surgery has considered arsha (haemorrhoid) in ashtamahagada[1] as it significantly disturbs the activities of body like an enemy. Masses of tissue consist of muscles and elastic fibres with swollen, inflamed vasculature along with supported surrounding tissues around the anal canal are haemorrhoids or piles. They are mainly divided into two groups i.e. External and Internal haemorrhoids. It is a common disease of anal canal. According to ayurveda, mandagni is the main aetiological factor for arsha. Acharya charak stated that vitiated doshas follow bahya and abhyantar rogmarga to produce arsha.[2] Acharya sushrut believed that arsha as rakta-mansa pradoshaj vyadhi.[3] Jalauka can be used as successful tool in this situation by relieving venous pooling of blood and also by liquefying the clotted blood in pile mass. In present study; a patient of 2nd degree internal haemorrhoid cured by jalaukavacharana. It concluded in remarkable benefit in re-establishment of circulation and marked reduction in pain, tenderness and swelling of haemorrhoids and thus it was concluded that jalaukavacharana is one of the best and important tool in management of 2nd degree internal haemorrhoids.
