Abstract

KNOWLEDGE OF TREATMENT STRATEGIES, AND OPINIONS ON PERIODONTAL TREATMENT PROCEDURES AMONG NON PERIODONTISTS: A QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEYâ€

Abstract

Aim: This study aims to evaluate the treatment strategies, and opinions on periodontal treatment procedures among non periodontists. The 100 dental professionals included in this questionnaire-based survey comprised of doctors in various specialties other than periodontists. Results: The results from the questionnaire-based survey indicated that knowledge about periodontal treatment strategies was fair among dental professionals. However, mixed response was elicited regarding the opinions in periodontal practice. Conclusion: Awareness about periodontal therapy and treatment modalities are to be implemented for non periodontists as the attitude towards pocket elimination procedures was shown to be compromised.
