FORMULATION AND EVALUATION ANTI-INFLAMMATORY GEL OF SARCOSTEMMA ACIDUM
Vikas Yadav*, Aditya Tiwari and Nitendra Sahu
. Abstract In the present study, an attempt was made to prepare, characterize and evaluate of topical therapeutic system of anti-inflammatory with natural Permeation enhancer. The result showed that the developed herbal gel was greenish in color, translucent in appearance and showed good homogeneity with absence of lumps. Formulation F5 had good values of spreadability, viscosity, pH, drug content and during the accelerated stability studies the appearance was clear and no significant variation in spreadability, pH and drug content was observed. Percentage drug release of hydrogel containing extract was observed to be- 9.89 (at 30 min.) and 47.63% (at 240 min.) respectively where gel containing 3 % natural permeation enhancer formulation EE3 was observed to be 15.43% (at 30 min.) and 62.75% (at 240 min.) respectively and gel containing 4 % natural permeation enhancer formulation EE4 was observed to be 26.86% (at 30 min.) and 77.98% (at 240 min.) respectively. It was observed that addition of ethanol and Permeation enhancers in formulation increase the release by increasing permeation properties of gel. The Formulation FE4 containing 4 % natural permeation enhancer showed maximum drug release as compared to others formulation. Keywords: hydrogel, Anti-inflammatory, Gel, Sarcostemma acidum.
