REVIEW OF PCOS AND IT’S MANAGEMENT IN AYURVEDA

. Abstract PCOS is the most common endocrine condition in reproductive-aged women. The word “Syndrome” is used to describe PCOD because, it is a complex manifestation involving many factors and organs It is characterized by reproductive, endocrine, metabolic and physiological features. This is a type endocrine disorder which involves anovulation, hirsutism, irregular and painful menstrual cycles, amenorrhea, having small cysts in the ovaries etc. This is a major cause of infertility in women, also known as Stein-Leventhal syndrome. In Ayurveda, Pushpagni jataharini mentioned in Kasyapa samhitha presents a clinical picture somewhat similar to that of PCOS.
