CASE STUDY OF DEPRESSION: AN AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT

. Abstract Ayurveda gives a prime importance to positive mental health. Anything that disturbs the body and mind is known to produce a disease. All of us have felt unhappy, down or discouraged at times in our lives. But when a person feels anxious hopeless, helpless, worthless, guilty, irritable and restless comes under the categorization of depression. Globally depression is a common illness with a estimated 350 million people effect according to World Health Organisation.[1] Women’s are more effected by the depression than men. In Ayurveda classics the terms vishada and Avasada are the similar conditions as depression. charaka quotes ‘vishado Rogavardananam Agrya’ mean Vishada is foremost factor to worsen the disease condition.
