EVALUATION OF ANTIBIOTIC PRODUCTION IN MICROMONOSPORA BY HPTLC
Padma Singh and Garima Sinha*
Abstract A total of 5 different types of actinobacteria were isolated from the soilof Ganges river bed, Haridwar. All the isolated actinobacteria werecharacterized and identified based on the morphological andbiochemical characteristics. The isolates were belonged to the generaMicromonospora, Streptomyces and Nocardia. Only Micromonosporasp. was selected for further studies. Antibacterial potential wasdetermined by both cross streak method and disc diffusion method. The result of the screening revealed that the crude extract was effectiveagainst E.coli and S. aureus. It was further analyzed by highperformance thin layer chromatography. Rf value in the TLCchromatogram characterized that, the metabolite comes underaminoglycoside group very much related to gentamicin. Keywords: Micromonospora, E. coli, S. aureus, Bacillus, antibiotic production, HPTLC. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
