WAYS TO KEEP AGNI IN SAMA AWASTHA FOR A HEALTHY LIVING- A CONCEPTUAL STUDY
Gahalawat Manpreet* and Kumar Krishan
. Abstract According to Ayurveda- A state of health exists when the following factors are in balance -The digestive fire (agni), the bodily humours or Tridoshas (vata, pitta and kapha), the three waste products or Malas (Urine, Faeces and sweat) are produced at normal level and the five senses (vision, hearing, touch, taste and smell) and their corresponding organs are functioning normally. The body (Sharir), mind (manas) and consciousness (aatma) are harmoniously working as one. Together all these factors can bring the body to function normally. Acharya Vagbhatta also said that the balance state of Agni is essential to maintain the health of an individual. If Agni is devoid of its normal functions it will lead to disease. So for being healthy main and foremost thing is to keep agni in sama awastha. This study aims to explore the knowledge on Agni and factors which affects Agni. This is mainly based on the authentic Ayurveda texts. Although different types of Agni are described in Ayurveda-13 types of Agni viz 7 Dhatwagni, 5 Bhutagni and 1 Jathragni are mostly considered. But Jathragni is main among them because when Jathragni work properly it will nourish dehagni and bhutagni, Ultimately leading to formation of best quality dhatus. Thus agni should be maintained in balanced state (sama awastha) to prevent diseases. Keywords: Agni, Samagni, Jathragni, Diseases, Aahar vidhi vidhan, Aahar matra.
