Abstract
From last few years the demand of various dosage forms has been
increased due to their various properties. Now a days out of various
dosage forms the demand of extracts has been increased as compare to
Choorna Kalpana. Because the active constituents are present more in
Ghan Kalpana (extract) as compare to Choorna Kalpana. The extracts
are widely used in markets and by various physicians due to its
properties like – palatability, potency, efficacy, lesser and accurate
dose, more bio – availability and absorption rate etc. The Punarnavadi
Choorna is indicated in Gridhrasi which is mentioned in Ayurvedic
text “Bhaishajya Ratnavali”. In view of the extract demand the
Punarnavadi Ghan Vati was evolved from Punarnavadi Choorna to
check out its clinical efficacy in Gridhrasi. The present Clinical study
was done on Gridhrasi w.s.r to Sciatica”. It was performed in P.G.T.R.I, G.A.C.H,
Patiala. For clinical purpose 30 patients who fitted in the inclusion criteria were randomly
selected for the study. The observation and results were recorded and assessed on the basis of
demographic data, subjective and objective parameters respectively. The statistical analysis
was also done on the basis of subjective and objective parameters. From the results and interpretation it was concluded that there is reduction of symptoms by both formulations but statistically Punarnavadi Ghan Vati showed more percentage relief than Punarnavadi Choorna.
