Abstract

The purpose of writing this review was to summarize the classification, advantages and disadvantages of floating drug delivery system. This review also includes the mechanism of FDDS. This review compiles the current technological development of floating drug delivery system and future potential for oral controlled drug delivery. This review also summarizes the polymers used in floating drug delivery systems and applications of these systems. It also includes the marketed products of GRDF and also explains the basic physiology of the stomach. This article compiles the transit time of various dosage forms across the GIT.
