Abstract

Kshara is considered superior to all surgical and Para surgical measures, because they perform the work of incision, puncture, and scarification to relieve derangements of the Tridosha and uniformly affect the diseased part to which they are applied. Ksharasutra is explained in the treatment of Nadi vrana chikitsa and is well known for the treatment of Bhagandara. Use of Ksharasutra in fistulous tract makes kshara capable of dissolving the tough fibrous tissue and ultimately draining it out the tract and creating a healthy base for healing. Materials used for preparation of ksharasutra are Guggulu, Arka Kshara, Haridra powder, Thread Linen Barbour No.20 were followed as per norms and sutras were made.
