Abstract

PREPARATION AND EVALUATION OF HERBAL TOOTHPASTE

Abstract

To maintain and enhance oral hygiene and appearance, toothpaste is a material or gels that is placed on the teeth with a toothbrush. Toothpastes have been using around long time, dating back several thousand years these formulations have progressed a long way – from suspension of rushed ash or egg shells into a complicated composition with upwards of 20 ingredients Chemicals and natural remedies could be among them that fight tooth decay and gum disease illness, odour, calcification, erosion, and hypersensitivities of the dentisitivity. Abrasives are also present in toothpastes.[1] Tastes for the aim of breath, teeth cleaning and whitening for improved visual appeal, refreshing and dyes are used. Effective toothpastes are ones that have been specially formulated for maximum bioavailability and their activities. However, it can be difficult because when several different activities are created in one phase, compromises must be made. Toothpaste production is far from complete, since numerous obstacles have to be addressed, particularly the oral substantivity of the bulk of active chemicals.[2] Due to their safety and efficacy in decreasing dental caries and preventing other dental diseases to which this generation is prone, herbal toothpaste containing natural ingredients is more acceptable in public belief than chemical based synthetic formulations in the current oral dental care scenario. In this case, the formulation in which we use new ingredients such as neem powder, clove oil, and aloe vera gel, tulsi leaves powder, mango leaves power, guava leaves powder, pomegranate peel powder, peppermint oil and trikatu in formulation and any other research project. These herbs contains various activities and use in treatment of ulcer, and have anticaries anti-bacterial anti-Cancer wound healing and have other good qualities. In connection with this herbal based products evolution was carried out to acquire a sense of key physical properties such as pH, stability, rheological properties, and spreadability are important factors in the creation of a successful more efficacious, and stable formulation, by considering foamability and homogeneity.[3]
