A CRITICAL REVIEW ON MUTRAKRICHHA W.S.R TO LOWER URINARY TRACT INFECTION (LUTS)

. Abstract The Mutrarogas are prevalent since the Vedic period. The term Mutrakrichha comes under the disorders of Mutravaha Srotas and mainly deals with Shula (pain) and kricchrata (dysuria). Almost all classical work contains a great description of this disease. Our ancient physicians had detailed knowledge about their management and etiopathogenesis. Acharya Charaka has described eight types of Mutrakrichha and thirteen types of Mutraghata. Acharya Sushruta separately described mutrakrichha in Uttar-tantra. In Mutrakrichhae vitiated Pitta Dosha along with Vata (mainly Apana Vayu) get localized in the Vasti (bladder) afflicts the Mutravaha Srotas due to which the patient feels difficulty in micturition along with symptoms These can be correlated as described in modern texts specifically lower urinary tract infections (urethritis and cystitis). Therefore, in the present article attempt has been made to define Mutrakrichha on scientific grounds vis-a-vis lower urinary tract infection.
