HISTORY OF FORENSIC MEDICINE AND MEDICAL JURISPRUDENCE- A REVIEW

. Abstract Background: Medical Jurisprudence, is also known as Forensic, Legal, or State Medicine and this defined to be that science which teaches the application of every branch of medical knowledge to the purpose of the law; hence its limits and the requirements of the law both are balanced, for the whole range of medicine. Medical ethics is another important aspect in the practice of medicine, and during ancient period what was its role is also an interesting study. Aim and Objective: To study the relationship between medicine and law which as existed in ancient (for centuries) in India. Methods: Literature review of published journals and relevant classical textbooks. Conclusion: Ancient scholars have surpassed even the modern-day thinking in which medical ethics is one of the part. According to the need of those days the concepts were developed. These concepts are very helpful for advancement and development medical ethics was applicable neither for the professionals of medicine, but also for teachers and students of medicine.
