AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF DADRU – A CASE STUDY

. Abstract Skin diseases are common manifestation in elder age, patient with skin disease experience physical, emotional and socio-economical embarrassments in the society. Kushta is Tridoshaj vyadhi in which rasa, rakta, mamsa and ambu are main dushyas. Dadru (fungal skin infection) one of the most common but miserable variety of kushtha affects in any age group. Dadru is kaph pitta pradhan vyadhi and the management includes Shodhan, Shaman and Bahirparimarjana chikitsa. Dadru is correlated with tinea infection. A 52 year male patient was apparently healthy before 1 year, He gradually developed itching sensation, multiple erythematous papule, vesicular lesions with sharp border and central clear round red colour big patches on back, extremities, buttock and groin region. He took allopathy medicines after that symptomatic relief was observed but again the patches spread all over body. Treated with Siravedha (Raktamokshana) as a shodhan chikitsa along with dadruher lepa as an bahiparimarjan chikitsa with internal medicines for 21 days improvements were noted in symptoms of itching, redness and vesicular patches.
