. Abstract Haemorrhoidal Disease is one of the most common anorectal conditions encountered in daily practice by general practitioners, general surgeons and gastrointestinal surgeons in India. It has been projected that about 50% of the population would have haemorrhoids at some point in their life probably by the time they reach the age 50, and approximately 5% population suffer from haemorrhoids at any given point of time. Taking into account the devastating nature of the disease and high prevalence in India, the evidence-based practice appears essential in the management of haemorrhoids.
