Abstract

Research is progressing day by day in nanoscience. In Pharmaceuticals nanotechnology reached at peak level. Various synthetic and natural polymers involved in developing new drug delivery; still use of natural polymers is significant. Polymers like chitosan are prominently used in the formulation of nanoparticles. Easy availability, safety and non toxic nature of the chitosan attracted the attention of many research scientists. The methods like Ionotropic gelation technique, Micro emulsion method, Emulsification solvent diffusion method, Polyelectrolyte complex method are used in the preparation of chitosan nanoparticles. Chitosan nanoparticles are used in the targeted drug delivery system so can be used in pulmonary drug delivery, nasal drug delivery oral drug delivery transdermal drug delivery system etc.
