SCREENING OF ANTI-MICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF SIDDHA DRUG SANGU CHUNNAM

. Abstract Siddha system is a traditional health system followed by south Indians. This system is developed by Siddhars. They treat the diseases not only using herbs, but also used metals, minerals and, some products of animal origin. Sangu Chunnam a Siddha formulation was evaluated for its antimicrobial activity against four bacterial species namely, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Streptococcus mutants. It shows the zone of inhibition for gram- positive organisms S. aureus and S. mutants. No zone of inhibition for gramnegative organisms E.coli and P. aeruginosa.
