Roshni V. K.* and Ch. Sridurga

.

Abstract

Analytical studies have an important role in the standardization of drugs. It provides information about the safety, efficacy, stability, and contraindication of any formulation. The quality of the drugs, that is, the profile of the constituents in the final product, has implications for efficacy and safety. The present research is focussed on the analytical study of Kayyonyadi taila. Accordingly, the physicochemical parameters were tested by Refractive index, Acid value, Saponification value, Iodine value, Loss on drying. For phytochemical analysis, HPTLC was used. XRD helps in determining the atomic and molecular structure. It is observed that the refractive index of Kayyonyadi taila at 40ºC was 1.4660n. Acid value of the drug was 5.706 % v/w. The saponification value of the drug was 99.70% v/w. The iodine value of Kayyonyadi taila is 103.91% v/w. The Loss on drying value of Kayyonyadi taila is 0. 01% v/w4. At 254nm, 366nm, 520nm, the Rf values and their corresponding colours are also noted. XRD results of Neelanjana indicate the presence of Lead Sulphide (PbS) with crystalline structure.

Keywords: Kayyonyadi Taila, Palithya, Sneha kalpana, Saponification value, HPTLC, XRD.
