PHYTOCHEMICALSTUDY OF TRIPHALA EYE DROPS IN ORDER TO STANDERDIZE ITS PREPARATION
Ganga R. Hadimani*, Manjusha Rajagopala and Ravishankar B.
. Abstract Sushrut, the pioneer of Ayurvedic ophthalmology, described five types of kriyakalpas viz tarpana, putapaka, seka, aschyotana and anjana. Commonest way of ocular drug delivery is eye drops. Conventionally for treating ocular pathology local application of medicine is more widely practised rather than systemic drug delivery. For the treatment of ocular diseases, topical route of administration is widely used. The majority of ophthalmic drugs are formulated in an aqueous medium. The drug should be stable in the aqueous medium at the precorneal site. The absorption of drug across cornea can be influenced by changing the physicochemical properties of the drug. Some physicochemical factors affecting the drug absorption include molecular weight, drug solubility, partition coefficient and pKa.
