Abstract

Mucoadhesive drug delivery system is a type of novel drug delivery system. It has been great interest during recent years. Mucoadhesive dosage form provides a controlled release drug for improve therapeutic effect. It enhance bioavailability of poorly soluble drugs and also avoid first pass effective of some drugs. In mucoadhesion adhesion between two materials in which one contain mucosal surface. It contains different types of routes of drug Delivery, oral, buccal, nasal, ocular, gastro, vaginal, and rectal. Oral route is most preferable by patients. Various polymers are used for several therapeutic purposes. Polymers can themselves exert some control over a rate and amount of drug release at the site of action.
