OBSERVATIONAL STUDY OF THE CONCEPT “DOSHBALABAL†IN KUSHTHA VYADHI WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO CHARAK SAMHITA

. Abstract In Ayurveda, Doshas are important entities of the body. The tridoshas viz. Vata, Pitta and Kapha defines the three fundamental energies or principles which govern the function of our bodies on the physical and emotional level. These doshas determine the conditions of growth, aging, health and disease. Balance between the tridoshas is essential for a healthy life whereas an imbalance between these doshas lead to various diseases and one such disease is “Kushtha Roga.” The word Kushtha is a broad term used for almost all skin disorders. The disease which has spreading nature, and which leads to deformity of skin in the form of discolouration is known as Kushtha. Kushtha is a contagious disease that effects the skin and mucous membrane and nerves causing discoloration, disfigurement, and deformities. Worldwide, skin infections probably cause more discomfort and disability than any other disease process. All types of kushtha are caused by tridoshas, hence the treatment is given according to the predominance of doshas or otherwise knowing from the respective symptoms. To treat the disease there is need to study dosha balabalam, lakshan of the kushtha. Without that the treatment could not be possible, and the incidence rate of the disease will be increased.
