Abstract

Microspheres can be used to deliver medications in a rate-controlled and sometimes targeted manner. Medication is released from a microsphere by drug leaching from the polymer or by degradation of the polymer matrix.[1] The current review provides an in-depth discussion of therapeutic aspects of microsphere drug delivery including the types of polymers used, methods of preparation, factors affecting the release, types of microspheres and pharmaceutical applications of Microspheres.
