ROLE OF NDDS IN HERBAL TREATMENT OF URTICARIA: A REVIEW

. Abstract Natural products and herbal medicine have been used for treating human diseases and maintaining health for centuries. Herbal medicine is still in the mainstay of about 75-80% of the world population, both in the developed countries and developing countries for primary health care. Nowadays natural products have more demand and acceptability. So natural and herbal medicines have immense consumption because it doesn’t contain toxins and also the side effect associated with other conventional therapies. Urticaria is characterized by the rapid appearance of wheals which may be accompanied by angioedema. Novel Drug Delivery System is an approach to drug delivery system that address the limitation of the traditional drug delivery system. Herbal medicines incorporated in to novel drug delivery system satisfies all the necessary requirements for release of the drug at specific site with specific rate. This review provides compendious data about role of novel drug delivery system and medicinal plants in treatment of urticaria and some of the medicinal plants used in the treatment of urticaria.
