CONCEPT OF TWACHA W.S.R. TO KRIYA SHARIR – A CONCISE REVIEW

. Abstract Ayurveda is the real wealth in science of life. In Ayurveda, Acharya Sushruta has stated in Sushruta Samhita- Shareer sthana, that five sensitive organs (Gyanendriyas), Sparshanendriya is one of them, which has the Adhisthana Twacha (skin). As we know, skin being the largest sense organ of the body which senses touch, pain, pressure, temperature etc. It's also known as “The First Line of Defense” of the body. All three Dosha are located in Twaka and perform their function accordingly. This article has been entitled with all information about skin (Twaka) such as Utpatti, synonyms, Kriya, Rachna sharir of Twacha, types (layers).Vyana Vayu carries sensitive input from Twaka to ShiraSthana, bhrajak pitta maintains metabolism in the Twacha, and Kapha provides Snigdhta by controlling functions of gland in the skin and maintains the humidity. So, Twacha being Adhisthana of various skin disorders we will be discussing the diagnostic, prognosis and therapeutic purpose of various disorders of skin.
